Amit Dixit

Founder and Executive Director of the South Asian Arts Council was Born in Jaipur India. He has combined his respect for his native culture and his entrepreneurial spirit to establish the South Asian Arts Council and strives to bring communities together through innovative arts programming.
A Boston activist for decades, Amit has developed and managed programs for digital conversion services and served on the boards of nonprofit organizations including Map for Health, GLAD, The History Project, and the Boston LGBT Film Festival.

QAPA was founded in 1979 at Glad Day Bookshop as the Boston Asian Gay Men and Lesbians (BAGMAL) the fi rst co-gender lesbian and gay Asian group in history with the intent to eradicate racism within the LGBT community, insisting that the gay movement “acknowledge and include the participation of people of color.”
